Kind of ironic that a doctor involved in bloodless surgery would be out seeking the blood of innocent animals not for food but for sport.

Director of Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh Accused of Illegally Hunting Lion
by AudeSapere inhttp://news.yahoo.com/zimbabwe-accuses-2nd-american-illegally-hunting-lion-060415307.html#.
harare, zimbabwe (ap) zimbabwe has accused a pennsylvania doctor of illegally killing a lion in april, as it seeks to extradite a minnesota dentist who killed a well-known lion named cecil in july.. jan casimir seski of murrysville, pennsylvania, shot the lion with a bow and arrow near hwange national park, without approval and on land where it was not allowed, said zimbabwe's national parks and wildlife management authority.. landowner headman sibanda was arrested and is assisting police, it said.. seski, a gynecological oncologist who directs the center for bloodless medicine and surgery at allegheny general hospital in pittsburgh, is a big-game hunter according to safari outfitters and bow-hunting sites.
kill shots on the sites identify "dr. jan seski" as the man standing next to slain animals including elephants, a hippo, an ostrich and antelopes such as an impala, a kudu, and a nyala.. seski did not respond to messages left by the associated press at his home and with an answering service for his medical practice.

Kudos to you People Who support your Spouse Suffering Meeting Attendance
by smiddy ini was inspired to post this because so many of you lovingly support your spouse by going to meetings conventions etc .knowing the crap your going to have to put up with , hoping that someday he/she will wake up to the bs.. and your willing to do this for as long as it takes .i take my hat off to you all.. it must take a lot of intestinal fortitude and love to do that .. smiddy.

I can see doing this for a short time if you're working on a plan to get them out by introducing facts. Maybe getting them to know people outside the organization you feel can get them to start thinking. If your talking about people that keep attending year after year pretending to believe the Watchtower BS they aren't doing anybody any good. They are making it easier for their spouse to stay in and along the way might even inadvertently be getting other people involved in the Watchtower. I've heard of cases where both the husband and wife hadn't believed in years but were both just pretending to rather than make waves. They might have been out years earlier if one of them had taken a stand and said something. -

I remember hearing the one about John Denver. I also remember one about Mickey Rooney. It went something like this. Mickey Rooney war very patriotic and when he found out his gardener was a JW he fired him.
Jdubs have to be the only people who enjoy the idea of being persecuted by the rich and famous enough to make up stories about it.

Clever/snappy comeback for "you're an apostate"
by Dagney ini'm looking for some clever comebacks.
i really don't care that i am an apostate, but would like to deliver a quick comeback or two to perhaps make the other person think.
any suggestions most welcome.

I would ask them: "Do you even know what the word means? The Watchtower is in a constant state of apostasy. Discarding their present beliefs for new and different ones i.e. "new light". The problem is that their new beliefs i.e. "new light" always seem to prove just false as their previous beliefs and are soon disregarded for more "new light" which is replaced by more "new light" which soon becomes replace by more "new light". An endless cycle of apostasy. So before you are so quick to label me an apostate realize that you are also an apostate. The difference is my apostasy comes form my personal understanding of things. I adjust my beliefs according to my own understanding of things where as your apostasy is based on the whims of some old men in Brooklyn who you have never met and for all you know might be quite insane. -

Why don't they retire? Oh that's right no pension no 401K. Even if they don't believe in it anymore they had better pretend to or they won't even have a roof over their head. What a sad waste of their lives. -

What have you learned, Terry, from TEN YEARS on this discussion board?
by Terry in1. it's not all about me.. each of us has to grow up our own way at our own pace.
when we regain our balance we can be of help to other people.
life doesn't.

Good points but I really liked number 8. I always like the point made in the musical Hair. Be whoever you want. Do whatever you want to do just as long as you don't hurt anyone. I think that is how it went.

Feeling sad over a wasted life in watchtower
by wannaexit init's been 12 years since i first read ray franz's books and the scales came off my eyes.
by that time i was in my forties.. since 2002 i went back to school and have worked with 3 very professional organizations.
but my biological clock is ticking away and while my peers are looking forward to retirement, i am only beginning.

You said it surfaces every once in a while. I can relate to that. Overall you need to be happy that you are out of it and your life is so much better because you did escape it. It ain't perfect but it is much better than it could have been. Thank you for sharing how you feel with us.

Got ratted out for celebrating Halloween...
by cognac inone of two things will happen.
i'll get disfellowshipped and never have to worry about being "told on" again for living a normal life, or; they won't do anything.. either way, it's freeing and i feel relieved... it will be sad if i get disfellowshipped but i've come to terms and made peace with it as much as can be expected.
it's a huge weight to have off.. was told on a week ago and haven't heard anything.

I managed to stay married to my wife after I left the Witnesses but I always felt it would have been over if I had had children at the time because I would have done everything in my power to have them not raised as JWs.
